【デザートは亀ゼリー】～60歳からの香港旅～

That day, we were going to visit Heritage of Mei Ho House

and walk around Mong Kok.

この日は美荷楼生活館（メイホーハウス）見学と旺角（モンコック）の散歩をする予定でした。

I watched the TV news

because we were worried about the weather.

お天気が心配でしたから、テレビを見ました。

The temperature is 23 degrees today.

今日の気温は２３度です。

The chance of rain is 86 % ?

降水確率は８６パーセント？

We put the folding umbrella in the bag.

折り畳み傘をかばんに入れました。

I found out later that,

actually 86% was humidity.

あとでわかったんですが

８６％って実は湿度だったんですよ。

The chance of rain is important in Japan,

humidity is important in Hong Kong.

日本では降水確率、

香港では湿度が大切なんですね。

I think the defference is interesting

depending on the country.

国によって違うのが面白いと思います。

It's a traffic jam information, maybe.

道路の渋滞状況ですね、多分。

In the morning,

We usually had instant miso soup

pre-packaged food from Japan,

and vegetable ・fruits from supermarket

in the hotel room.

朝はたいてい日本から持っていった

インスタントの味噌汁やレトルト食品、、

スーパーで買った野菜や果物などを

ホテルの部屋で食べていました。

This is a expensive fruit

that my husband wanted to try

in the evening before.

前の晩に、夫が食べてみたいと

買った高い果物です。

The fresh of fruit was

just like dragon fruits.

ドラゴンフルーツとそっくりの果肉でした。

We went to Tsim Sha Tsui Station

as always.

いつものように、

尖沙咀（チムサアチョイ）駅に行きました。

It was very easy to understand.

非常にわかりやすかったです。

We went to Sham Shui Po by red line.

赤ラインで深水ぽ　まで行きました。

We went out from B2 exit to Mei Ho House.

美荷楼生活館（メイホーハウスへ）へは深水ぽ駅のＢ２出口から出ました。

Sham Shui Po is inexpensive old town.

深水ぽ（シャムスイポ）は庶民的な下町です。

It was quite different

from high class residential area

the other day.

先日の高級住宅街とは全然違いました。

About 20 days after we came back home from Hong Kong,

　　　　I read an article about Hong Kong in the newspaper.

香港から帰ってきてから約２０日後、私は香港についての記事を新聞で読みました。

A man scatter 200000HK＄from the building in Sham Shui Po Hong Kong

on December 15th 2018,

　　　　then lots of people rushed to pick up them.

２０１８年１２月１５日、香港の深水ぽのビルの上から、男が２０万香港ドル（２９０万円）を

ばらまいて、多くの市民がお金を拾おうと殺到しました。

Hong Kong Police arrested the man who was living stream on the Internet.

香港警察は、この騒ぎをネット中継していた男性を逮捕しました。

The man became billionaire by Bitcoin trading.

この男性はビットコイン（仮想通過）取引で億万長者になりました。

The most money was picked up by the passer-by

and only 5000HK＄was collected by the police.

お金はほとんどが通行人に拾われて、

警察が回収できたのはわずか５０００香港ドル（７５００円）でした。

Money fall from the sky in Hong Kong.

香港で空からお金が降ってきた～

This man was arrested.

この男性が逮捕されました。

It was easy to understand

that there were such a display board

on the intersection in Hong Kong.

起 means from.

起　は　～（から）の意味です。

パーマを電髪（でんぱつ）と言うんですね。

People use Yuan in Hong Kong, too,

but it means Hong Kong ＄.

香港の人々は元も使いますが、

でも、その意味は香港元です。

We arrived Mei Ho House at 9:30 a.m.

It took for about 30 minutes by walking slowly from Sham Shui Po Station.

午前９時半にメイホーハウスに到着しました。

深水ぽ駅からゆっくり歩いて約３０分かかりました。

There was a large fire around here in 1953.

１９５３年にこのあたりで大火事がありました。

The public housing unit were built

as a starting point.

これをきっかけにして公営住宅が建設されました。

The next year,

30 block concrete apartment houses

were built for many people

who lost their houses.

火災で家を失った多くの人々のために、

翌年３０棟のコンクリート住宅が建設されました。

Mei Ho House remains even now.

その中で今でも残っているのがメイホーハウスです。

Hong Kong Youth Hostel Association

renovated the historical structure

and opened the Mei Ho House YH

in 2013.

香港ユースホステル協会が

この歴史的建造物をリノベーションして

２０１３年にメイホーハウスユースホステルとして

オープンしました。

It is a good idea that we can stay

in historical structure.

歴史的建造物に泊まれるとは

うまいこと考えましたね。

The folding ruler reminds me

of my childhood.

Most display items are donation

from the resident in those days.

ほとんどの博物館にある展示物は

その当時の住民からの寄付です。

When a former resident came here,

he found the fridge of his home

to remember the sticker in his childhood.

元住民がこの博物館に来た時に、

子どもの頃の冷蔵庫のシールを覚えていて

自分の家の冷蔵庫を見つけることもあるそうです。

Japanese 麻雀 means sparrow in Chinese.

日本語の麻雀は中国語ではスズメのことです。

Mahjong is 麻将 in Chinese.

中国語では麻将です。

It's a rational idea

that they do a business

while saving the history.

歴史を保存しながら、商売にするという

合理的なアイデアです。

自助洗衣房 means laudromat in Chinese.

自助洗衣房は中国語でコインランドリーのことです。

We used the lavatory here.

ここでトイレをお借りしました。

By the way,

toilet paper is written letter in Chinese.

ちなみにトイレットペーパーは

中国語では”手紙”と書かれます。

手紙 means letter in Japanese.

手紙は日本語で手紙を意味します。

We left Mei Ho House at 10:40 a.m.

メイホーハウスを１０時４０分に出ました。

What's 牙科 ?

牙科って何でしょうか？

I'm going to Google it.

調べてみますね。

It means dentist.

歯医者のことでした。

InJapan, we use 牙fang to animal,

especially lion,

but we don't use it to human.

日本語では、牙は動物、特にライオンなどに

使いますが人間には使いません。

I was taught by T-chan,

牙科 is pronounced "YA-KU-",

牙医 is pronounced "YA-I-".

Ｔちゃんに教えてもらいました。

We passed a local market.

市場を通りかかりました。

According to our daughter,

local market is called "街市Gaishi".

娘によると市場は街市（がいし）というそうです。

In China,

vegetables means

edible wild plants literally.

中国では野菜は文字通り、

野草・山菜の意味になります。

蔬菜 means 野菜 vegetable.

青菜 means 青梗菜qinggengcai.

菠菜 means ほうれん草spinach.

Fishes in the market are very fresh.

袋に入っていないもやしが売られていました。

They looked very fresh and delicious.

とても新鮮で美味しそうでした。

I had never seen such a fresh bean sprouts

before.in Japan.

日本ではこんなに新鮮なもやしを

見たことがありませんでした。

It was a Japanese name,

so we expected it had a Japanese menu.

いがらし日本レストランという名前なので、

日本語メニューがあるかなと期待しました。

In contrast with the name,

it was a local restaurant.

名前とは裏腹にローカルな地元食堂でした。

We don't know the menu at all,

so we apologized to the waitress,

then we went to other restaurant.

メニューを見ても全然わからないので

ウェイトレスさんに謝って

別のレストランに行きました。

We arrived MTR Shek Kip Mei Station.

地下鉄の石硤尾（シェクキプメイ）駅に着きました。

石硤尾→深水ぽ→太子→旺角

We took the train bound for Whampoa Station.

黄埔（ワンポア）行きに乗りました。

We arrived in Mong Kok Station at 11:40 a.m.

１１時４０分、旺角（モンコック）駅に到着しました。

We went out the station from B3 exit

to Goldfish Street.

金魚街へはＢ３出口から出ました。

I saw a Japanese consumer loan company.

日本の消費者金融会社を見ました。

They advance to Asia

because it's unprofitable in Japan

by refunding overpayment?

日本では過払い金の返金で

経営状態が悪化しているから

アジアに進出しているのでしょうか？

We walked to Goldfish Street

on the overhead bridge.

陸橋を歩いて金魚街に行きました。

Restaurant without Japanese menu

was difficult for us,

so we chose "KATUYA",

Japanese chain restaurant.

日本語メニューがないところは

私たちにとってはむずかしかったので

日本のチェーンレストランの”かつや”を選びました。

The waitress looked Hong Konger,

she greeted "Irasshaimase" in Japanese.

ウェイトレスさんは香港人のようでしたが

日本語で「いらっしゃいませ」と挨拶しました。

It was written in Kantonese,Mandarin,

English and Japanese.

広東語・中国標準語・英語・日本語表示

で書かれていました。

We shared the Pork Cutlet Curry with Rice.

カツカレーを２人で分けて食べました。

I felt relieved to eat Japanese food.

日本の食べ物を食べたら、ほっとしました。

Grape-flavored Calpico was too weak.

ぶどうカルピスは味がとても薄かったです。

I asked the waitress,

"Excuse me,

This Calpico doesn't taste.

Could you add it to strongly ?"

「すみません。このカルピスは味がしません。

もっと濃くして頂けますか？」と頼みました。

英語でカルピスと言うと、牛のおしっこのことになるので注意

calpisは英語の　cow piss カウピス　と聞こえることから、

アメリカでは　CALPICO　という名前で販売されている。

This is Goldfish Street.

金魚街です。

Goldfish is populatr as a pet to raise

the money luck from feng shui.

風水で、金魚は金運を上げるペットとして

人気があります。

I imagine that

Chinese love 8,

so lots of people have 8 goldfishes.

想像ですが、中国人は８が好きだから

８匹の金魚を飼っている人が

多いのではないでしょうか。

I asked T-chan about number in China.

Ｔちゃんに中国の数について教えてもらいました。

８が縁起がいいのは、発達と発財の８だから。

License plate with 8 are expensive.

だから、８がついた車のナンバープレートは高い。

My nextdoor neighbor is not Chinese,

but they love 8,

their number plate is used same 8.

私の隣の人は中国人ではありませんが、

８が大好きで、車のナンバープレートには

いくつかの８が使われています。

Ordinary fishes were sold in bags.

金魚ではない普通の魚も

袋で売られていました。

They don't eat them,

do they have them ?

普通の魚を食べずに飼うのでしょうか？

Mermaid is written 美人魚

in Chinese.

人魚は中国語で”美人魚”と書くんですね。

Those bread in the showcase is

perhaps……

あのショーケースに入っているパンは

もしかして……。

These are Pineapple bun,

Chinese sweet bread

similar to Japanese melonpan.

日本のメロンパンに似ている、

菠蘿包（ポーローパウ）です。

I found it by chance.

偶然これを見つけました。

It looked delicious.

美味しそうでした。

I wanted to eat it with butter.

Freshly baked warm bread

and cold butter was tasty.

焼きたての温かいパンに冷蔵庫から出した

ばかりの冷たいバター……が美味しかった。

”菠蘿包”＋butter =”菠蘿油”

”菠蘿包”にバターをはさむと”菠蘿油”になります。

読み方はボーローパウ→ボーローヤウと変わります。

雀鳥花園（バードガーデン）です。

I heard beautiful song of small birds.

美しい小鳥のさえずりが聞こえてきました。

Bird fanciers brought their birds here.

鳥愛好家の人たちが

小鳥をここに持ってきていました。

Why are bird fanciers only men ?

鳥愛好家はなぜ男性だけなのでしょうか？

Culture of the only man ?

男性だけの文化？

This birdcage is beautiful.

この鳥かごがきれいです。

2 middle-aged men were proud of birds.

おじさん二人が鳥自慢をしていました。

What do the birds in the cage think ?

I think having a pet in the cage is ill-treatment.

We didn't know how to get to the station,

I asked the plice officer.

駅に行く道がわからなかったので、

お巡りさんにききました。

Police officer in Hong Kong can speak English.

香港の警察官は英語が話せます。

I saw such a bright cake at the cake shop.

ケーキ屋さんでこんな派手なケーキを見ました。

It's shaped peach.

桃の形をしています。

According to T-chan,

In China

they celebrate the long life

at 60, 70, 80, 90 years old.

Ｔちゃんによると

中国では６０歳７０歳８０歳９０歳に

長寿のお祝いをするそうです。

And peach is lucky fruit in China.

そして桃は中国では縁起のいい果物だそうです。

We came back to Tsim Sha Tsui.

On that day my eldest daughter living in Kagoshima

　　came to Hong Kong 3 nights 4 days.

We promised to eat dinner in the second daughter's apartment,

　　so second daughter and us went shopping at the supermarket.

Most food in Hong Kong are from China.

尖沙咀に帰ってきました。

この日は鹿児島に住んでいる長女が香港に３泊４日で旅行に来る日でした。

次女のマンションで一緒に夕食を食べる約束をしていたので、

　　スーパーで次女と一緒に買い物をしました。

A Japanese stew called "Nabe".

日本スタイルの煮込み料理のことを

”鍋料理”と呼びます。

My second daughter bought

"Turtle Jelly" at the pharmacy.

娘はこの薬屋さんで亀ゼリーを買いました。

In Hong Kong,

men and women of all ages,

when they have a slight cold,

they are tired from the summer heat,

they have a hangover and so on,

they eat "Turtle Jelly"soon.

香港では老若男女を問わず、

風邪気味の時や夏バテ、飲みすぎなどには、

すぐに亀ゼリーを食べるそうです。

The dessert was "Turtle Jelly".

食後のデザートは　”亀ゼリー”でした。

What kind of effects does it have ?

どんな効果があるんでしょうか？

Beautiful skin,constipation,

lower the fever,hemorrhoids and so on

美肌・便秘・解熱・痔など

様々な効能があるとされています。

What are the ingredients ?

材料は？

Turtle shell and Chinese medicine

亀の甲羅といろいろな漢方薬です。

I put syrup on the jelly,

but it tasted bitter like medicine.

蜜をかけましたが漢方薬のような苦い味でした。

Even if it's good for effects,

I don't want to eat it.

たとえ効能があっても、食べたくありません。

T-chan said ,"I don't like it.", too.

Ｔちゃんも亀ゼリーを嫌いと言っていました。
