【百万ドルの夜景まんじゅう】～60歳からの香港旅～

The 4th dayーNovember 13th 2018 (Tuesday) 　　

４日目―２０１８年１１月１３日（火）

That day we looked around the Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui

　　　before going to our daughter's apartment.

It's a famous multi-tenant building

　　　that is written in the novel of "Midnight Express"by Sawaki Kotaro.

Especially the scene of Chungking Mansions is impressive.

Our eldest daughter's friend was almost killed there.

There is in the city center, but it's widely known

　　　among backpacker all over the world　

　　　as it has many cheap guesthouse close together.

It was fun that an Indian Hong Konger sold fake brand watches while saying

　　"Nisemono Nisemono Nisemono (Fake Fake Fake)"

　　　in Japanese in front of the building.

この日は、娘のマンションに行く前に、尖沙咀にある重慶大厦（チョンキンマンション）を見学しました。

あの沢木耕太郎の小説「深夜特急」に登場する有名な雑居ビルです。

重慶マンションのシーンは特に印象的でした。

私の長女の友達は、ここで殺されそうになりました。

繁華街にありますが、たくさん（１０００室以上）の安宿が密集していることで、

　　　世界中のバックパッカーの間でその名が知れ渡っています。

このチョンキンマンションのビルの前で、インド系の人が日本語で「にせもの、にせもの、にせもの」と言って

　　　偽ブランド物の時計を売っていたのが面白かったです。

CHUNGKING is place name in China.

重慶（チョンキン）は中国の地名です。

Japanese Army attacked there from the air

more than 200 times for 5 years,

then over 10000 people died in the past.

昔、日本軍が５年間で

２００回を超える空襲を行い、１万人以上の

犠牲者が出ました。

It had been said a hotbed of crime,

but the security has been stepped up

since 2000.

以前は犯罪の温床と言われてきましたが、

２０００年末以降は警備が強化されています。

There is a security camera in the elevator,

we can see the video from outside..

エレベーターの中には監視カメラがついていて

外から見えるようになっています。

Even if there is camera,

I can't get in the elevator alone.

たとえカメラがついていても、

１人では乗れません。

チョンキンマンションは二つの点で危険です。

One is security and the other is fire.

1つはセキュリティー、そしてもう1つは

火事という点です。

According to our daughter,

There is "Hong Kong Water" in Hong Kong.

娘によると香港には”香港水”があります。

It's a water falling from the airconditioner.

香港水とは

ポトンポトンとクーラーから落ちてくる水のことです。

This is outside of Chungking Mansions.

ここはチョンキンマンションの外部です。

If it's on fire,

it's difficult to evacuate from there

because of complex structure.

もし火事になったら、

複雑な構造の建物なので、避難が難しいです。

One of surprising things in Hong Kong was bamboo scaffolding.

Why is bamboo used, not iron scaffolding ?

The first because, bamboo is much cheaper than iron.

　　　In Hong Kong, they import long and high-quality bamboo from China.

The second because, it's easy to carry

　　　and scaffold and disassemble for lightweight.

The third because, bending of bamboo absorb a shock from typhoon.

The fourth because, they can scaffold in the space of 60 cm

　　　from the wall unlike iron, it's useful for small Hong Kong.

The fifth because, bamboo becomes stronger by the humidity

　　　in hot and humid Hong Kong unlike easily rusting iron

香港でびっくりしたことの一つに、竹の足場があります。

なぜ鉄の足場ではなく、竹が使われるのでしょうか？　

１番目の理由は　竹は鉄に比べてとても安いからです。

　　　香港では中国から長くて質のいい竹を輸入しています。

２番目の理由は　竹は軽いので、運ぶのも組み立てるのも解体するのも楽だからです。

３番目の理由は　竹のしなりが台風の衝撃を吸収してくれるからです。

４番目の理由は　鉄と違い壁から６０㎝の空間があれば足場を組めるので土地の狭い香港では便利だからです。

５番目の理由は　高温多湿な香港では、錆びやすい鉄と違って、

　　　竹はむしろ湿気を帯びることでよく締まり丈夫になるからです。

I had seen bamboo scaffolding

for many times in Hong Kong,

but it was the first time for me to see

that they were scaffolding.

竹の足場なら香港で何回も見ましたが、

足場を組み立てている様子を初めて見ました。

I had wanted to see it.

とてもそれを見たかったんです。

To become scaffolder,

threy have to learn in the job training school

for scaffolder.

足場を組む職人になるためには、

専門の職業訓練校に行かなくてはなりません。

The salary is higher than carpenter's

for dangerous.

大工さんよりも危険なので

賃金は高いそうです。

Our daughter bought Pu'er tea at the traditional tea shop.

Chinese dishes are greasy, but if we drink it, our mouth feels refreshed.

娘が昔ながらのお茶屋さんでプーアル茶を買いました。

中華料理は脂っこいのですが、プーアル茶を飲むと口の中がさっぱりします。

It's shaped like Frisbee unlike Japan's.

日本のと違って、丸いフリスビーみたいな形です。

I wanted to throw it like "hyun".

ヒュンっと投げたくなりました。

I was surprised to see 1bag of Pu'er tea

it costed 2500 HK＄.

２５００香港ドル（３７０００円）の

プーアル茶を見てびっくり。

I always use 1 bag of Japanese tea

it costs about 200 yen (13 HK＄).

私はいつも１袋２００円くらいの日本茶を使っています。

It costed 26000 HK＄　！！！

こちらは何と２６０００香港ドル（３９万円）！！！

Strange to say,the older the more expensive.

奇妙なことに、古いプーアル茶ほど高いようです。

Old tea leaves is realy tasty ?

古い茶葉ってほんとに美味しいのでしょうか？

I Googled it.

グーグル検索してみました。

Pu'er Tea Investor buy tea

because making money.

プーアル茶投資家がお金儲けのために

お茶を買うんです。

It's the same as real estate investment.

不動産投資と同じです。

The mechanism of Pu'er tea investment

was thought by tea shop.

プーアル茶投資はお茶屋によって

考え出されたのです。

Next we went shopping at Market Place inside K11 with our daughter.

It has lots of Japanese food.

次に私たちは娘と一緒にＫ１１の中のスーパーマーケット　マーケットプレイスで買い物をしました。

ここは日本製品が多いスーパーです。

There are various soup of Nabe.

いろいろな鍋のたれがありました。

This is Sashimi and Sushi section.

お刺身・お寿司コーナーです。

We got homesick a little,

then we bought Sushi there.

ちょっと里心がついてお寿司を買ってしまいました。

This is a marbled beef from Japan.

日本産の霜降り牛肉です。

I don't like it.

私は霜降り牛肉が好きではありません。

When our daughter lived in London,

there were not such a sliced pork.

娘がロンドンに住んでいた時は、こんな

うす切り豚肉はありませんでした。

I had never seen such a fish in Japan.

こんな魚は日本では見たことがありませんでした。

These curry roux are 37 HK＄ each.

カレールーがひとつ３７香港ドル（５５０円）しました。

There were frozen Udon noodles.

冷凍うどんもありました。

These are eggs from Kagoshima Japan.

これらは鹿児島産の卵です。

There are direct flights

between Kagoshima and Hong Kong.

鹿児島と香港間は直行便があります。

Duck eggs are not sold in Japan.

あひるの卵は日本では売られていません。

It was the first time for me

to see duck eggs in my life.

生まれて初めてあひるの卵を見ました。

I was taught about tofu by T-chan.

Ｔちゃんに豆腐について教えてもらいました。

"Japanese Tofu" means

"Steamed egg custard with soup stock"

in China.

中国で”日本の豆腐”とは”卵豆腐”のことです。

1 pack of Nattou cost 25 HK＄.

納豆が１パック　２５香港ドル（３８０円）でした。

It's 5 times as much as Japan.

日本の５倍です。

香港で出前一丁は一番売れているラーメンです。

Chewy ramen noodles became popular

among Hong Konger

who were used to soft noodles.

やわらかい食感の麺に慣れていた

香港人にコシのある麺が人気になりました。

I have seen "Demae-Ittyou"

with just soy-sauce flavor

in Japan,

but they were sold various flavors

in Hong Kong.

日本では醤油味の

出前一丁しか見たことがありませんが、

香港ではさまざまな味のもの

が売られていました。

Sesame chill oil is one of the reason

of the popularity.

”ごまラー油”も

その人気の理由の一つでした。

Then we went to our daughter's apartment.

それから娘のアパートに行きました。

Most Hong Konger live in apartment

because of small land,

but it's good in terms of nice view.

香港は土地が狭いので、ほとんどの人は

アパートに住んでいますが、

見晴らしがいいという点でいいですね。

Actually this kitchen is hard to use.

実はこの台所は使いにくい台所です。

The door of the fridge hits the door

between kitchen and living room.

冷蔵庫の扉が台所・リビング間のドアーに

ぶつかってしまいます。

The washing machine is the same.

また洗濯機も同じです。

Because the door is inward opening to kitchen.

それは台所のドアーが台所側に内開きだからです。

If we use common sense,

kitchen door is outward opening to livingroom.

常識的に考えれば、台所のドアーは

リビング側に外開きですよね。

Actually kitchen is made for housekeeper.

実は台所はメイドさん用に作られているんです。

But it was not made that it's easy

for housekeeper to use.

でも台所はメイドさんが使いやすいように

作られていないのです。

Employer doesn't enter the kitchen.

雇い主は台所には入らないのです。

My daughter doesn't employ a housekeeper,

so she does housework by herself..

娘はメイドさんを雇っていないので

家事を自分でしています。

In Hong Kong,

more than middle-class family

usually employ a foreign housekeeper

from Indonesia or Philippine.

香港では、中流以上の家庭では

インドネシアやフィリピンからの出稼ぎの

メイドさんを雇うのが普通なのです。

Live-in foreign housekeeper is

called "Ama"in Hong Kong.

住み込みのメイドさんは

香港では”アマ”さんと呼ばれています。

There are about 300000 Amas in Hong Kong.

香港にはアマさんが約３０万人います。

Salary of Ama is 4100 HK＄ a month,

it's the law in Hong Kong.

香港ではアマさんの給料は

１か月４１００香港ドル（約６万円）と

法律で決められています。

Most common pattern is……

they are employed by two-income family,

first they cook breakfast,

drop off children,

take a elderly people to hospital,

do the washing・cleaning・shopping,

cook dinner and wash dishes.

一番多いパターンは

共働きの家庭に雇われて

まず朝食を作ることから始まり、

子どもの送り迎え、お年寄りの病院の付き添い、

洗濯・掃除・買い物

そして夕食作りと片付けなどをこなします。

This is an Ama's room,

台所の奥にあるのがアマさんの部屋です。

It's a very small room, about 2 tatami-mats.

２畳くらいのとても狭い部屋です。

This room is used as store room now.

現在この部屋は物置部屋になっています.

There is an another room

back of the Ama's room.

アマさんの部屋の奥には

別の部屋がもう１つあります。

It has a toilet and a washing stand

only for Ama

アマさんの部屋のまた奥には

アマさん専用のトイレと洗面台があります。

It has some cleaning tool, too.

ここはまた掃除用具を収納する部屋でもあります。

Most pet-bottled water is distilled water

in Hong Kong.

香港のボトルの水はほとんど蒸留水です。

There is no mineral in distilled water.

蒸留水にはミネラルがありません。

So Distilled water with mineral

is sold .

それで人工的にミネラルを加えた

ミネラル蒸留水も販売されています。

Tap water in Hong Kong is safe to drink, but water pipes become too old.

So they can’t drink unboiled water.

香港の水道水は安全なのですが水道管が老朽化しているので生水は飲めません

Hong Kong people use some kinds of water depending on the purpose.

香港の人々はその目的によって、いろいろな種類の水を使い分けています。

They are seawater, tap water, boiled water, filtered tap water,

dispenser water, bottled water and so on.

いろいろな種類の水とは、

海水、水道水、沸騰させた水、浄水器を通した水、

ウォーターサーバーの水、ペットボトルの水などです。

I asked my daughter living in Hong Kong how she uses different water

depending the purpose.

私は香港に住んでいる娘に水をその目的によってどう使い分けているのかを尋ねました。

Tap water is used washing dishes, washing face, brushing teeth, gargle,

bathtub, shower and so on.

水道水は食器洗い、洗顔、歯磨き,うがい、

お風呂、シャワーなどに使っています。

Filtered tap water is used washing vegetables, cooking rice, miso-soup,

boiling vegetables, boiling noodles and so on.

浄水器を通した水道水は野菜洗い、お米を炊く、味噌汁、

野菜をゆでる、麺をゆでるなどに使っています。

Dispenser distilled water is used drinking water and tea or coffee water.

ウォーターサーバー（購入した水）の蒸留水は

飲料水やお茶を淹れる時に使っています。

Perhaps seawater is used for toilet.

海水は多分トイレに使われています。

But my daughter told me, “I’m not sure the toilet water is seawater or water.

でも娘は私に「トイレの水が海水なのか、真水なのか、

はっきりわからない」と言っていました。

She wants to make sure it is really seawater, but she can’t lick it.

娘は本当はそれが本当に海水なのかを確かめたいのですが舐めるわけにはいきません。

So she will try in summer that she put toilet water in disposable tray

and put on it on sunny place.

そこで、娘は夏になったら、トイレの水を容器に入れて、日当たりのよいところに置いてみるそうです。

It’s just like summer science project of elementary school student, isn’t it ?

from May to October.

stick a protective tape window.

香港の人々は

大型台風に備えます。

The scale of the typhoon is represented as signal.

According to our daughter,

there is a rule that

there must be exactly the window in the room.

娘によると、香港では部屋に必ず窓が

なければならないという決まりがあるそうです。

Sushi topping were salmon, sea urchin,

squid, and salmon roe.

握り寿司のネタはサーモン・ウニ・イカ・イクラ

Thin roll were with cucumber, egg

and imitation crab sticks.

We said "Itadakimasu"in Japanese.

私たちは日本語で「頂きます」と言いました。

"Let's eat, shall we ?" in Engflish.（英語で）

"食飯"(Seffan) in Cantonese.

広東語では「セッファーン」です。

I couldn't stop eating them.

これ、食べ出したら止まらなくなりました。

Our daughter is going back to Japan temporarily,

so I asked her to bring it as souvenir.

今年の３月に、香港の娘が一時帰国するので

龍眼のドライフルーツをお土産に頼みました。

After lunch, our daughter and we went out at 2:00 p.m.

The day before, we went there from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central by Star Ferry,

　　　but that day by MTR (Subway)

　　　because the purpose was mountain climbing of Victoria Peak.

昼ご飯を食べた後、午後２時に私たちは出かけました。

地下鉄尖沙咀駅（チムサアチョイ）から中環まで、前日はスターフェリーで行きましたが、

この日はビクトリアピーク登山が目的なので、地下鉄で行きました。

ＭＴＲ(subway) in Hong Kong is easy to use

unlike Tokyo, because it's very simple.

香港の地下鉄は東京と違って

とても単純なので利用しやすいんです。

The seat of MTR was made of stainless steel.

地下鉄の座席はステンレス製でした。

Hong Kong is hot and humid,

so do people like cold feeling ?

香港は高温多湿であるため

人々は冷たい感触が好きなんでしょうか？

Or is it for measures against bedbug?

または南京虫対策でしょうか？

Speaking of Victoria Peak, we usually go there by Peak Tram, but we didn't.

Our plan was that we go there by Hillside Escalator and walking.

About a half year ago, our daughter climbed from bottom to top on all foot,　

　　　she didn't cheat.

It's OK that elderly people do.

The most important thing is

　　　that we have to go to the Hillside Escalator after 10:20 a.m.

If we go there before 10:20 a.m.,

　　　we have to climb up the steps because down escalator.

ビクトリアピークといえば、ピークトラムに乗っていくのが一般的ですが、私たちは乗りませんでした。

我々の計画はビクトリアピークまで、ヒルサイドエスカレーターと歩きで行くというものでした。

半年前、娘はインチキをせずに、一番下からてっぺんまで全部歩いたそうです。

年寄りはインチキをしてもいいのです。

肝心なことは、午前１０時２０分以降にヒルサイドエスカレーターに行くことです。

１０時２０分前に行くと、下りになっているので、階段を登らなければなりませんよ。

We left there at 2:45 p.m.

私たちはここを午後２時４５分に出発しました。

What ?

あれれ？

I thought they were all up escalators,

but some escalators were down one.

ヒルサイドエスカレーターって全部上りだと

思っていたら、下りも少しだけありました。

We couldn't use a escalator

because of under construction.

工事中で使えないエスカレーターもありました。

「ご不便をおかけして申し訳ありません。」

We arrived the finishing point of Hillside Escalator

at 3:15 and walked to Victoria Peak.

午後３時１５分にエスカレーターの終点に到着して、そこからビクトリアピークまで歩きました。

Go out of the escalator

and walk right along the street.

エスカレーターを出たら、右に歩きましょう。

I saw real estate ad of high-class condominium.

高級マンションの不動産広告を見ました。

HK＄　19.98M = about HK ＄20000000

=about 300 miliiion Japanese-yen

１９，９８Ｍは約２０００万香港ドル

日本円で３億円です。

I didn't know some words.

いくつかの言葉がわかりませんでした。

"無敵 Muteki" means wonderful.

Tちゃんによると

「無敵」とは「素晴らしい」という意味です。

'露台Rodai" means balcony.

露台とはベランダのことです。

"連車Rensha" means parking.

連車とは駐車場のことです。

It looks luxury fence.

Maybe Ama (Housekeeper) is taking

a child for a walk

多分アマさん（メイド）さんが

子どもと散歩しています。

40 % of the amount of garbage a day

in Hong Kong is food and leftover.

また、香港で１日に出るごみの４０％は

食品や食べ物の残飯です。

Goverment of Hong Kong promote to people,

"Order dishes as you can eat in restaurant",

"Buy food as you can eat in supermarket"

レストランでは食べきれるだけの料理を注文すること、

買い物も食べきれる分だけ買うことを

香港政府は呼び掛けています。

There were the same poster here and there.

あちこちに同じポスターがありました。

「バックは１１月１０日にミッドレベルあたりで

迷子になりました。

バックはレスキュー犬でとても人なつこい犬です。

どうぞどなたかバックを見たら、

私たちに連絡をお願いします。

バックという名札と背中に連絡先番号をつけています。

謝礼金は　１０００香港ドル（１５０００円）です。」

　
We had a break in the children's park.

児童公園で一休み。

This is a branch road.

分かれ道です。

We arrived there at 3:45 p.m.

in 30 minutes since we started to walk.

歩き始めて３０分後、午後３時４５分に

ここに着きました。

The road was paved , so it was easy to walk.

道は舗装されていて歩きやすかったです。

There was a public lavatory on the way.

途中公衆トイレもありました。

When I was walking in the mountain Hong Kong,

I was under the illusion

that I was in Japan.

香港の山道を歩いていたら、

日本にいるような錯覚を起こしました。

But the summerhouse was

tipical Chinese structure.

でも東屋（あずまや）は典型的な中国建造物でした。

We have the image that

Hong Kong is crowded with many buildings,

but there is a place full of nature like here.

香港といえば、ビルが密集している

イメージですが、こんな自然豊かな場所もあります。

You don't know because of photo,

actually she climbed down the mountain

by walk backward.

写真だからわからないと思いますが、

実は彼女は後ろ向きに歩いて山を下りています。

Walking backwards is

a method for activating brain？

後ろ歩きは脳を活性化させる方法なんでしょうか。

I saw lots of people walking backward.

後ろ向きに歩いている人を何人も見ました。

People walk backward in the park

in China, too.

We arrived a nice view spot at 5:15,

before the top.

午後５時１５分、頂上の手前ですが、

見晴らしのいいところに到着しました。

We started to walk at 3:15,

so it took 2 hours.

歩き始めたのが3時１５分でしたから、

２時間かかりました。

We started to go up the escalator at 2:45,

so it took 2 and a half hours in tortal.

エスカレーターを上り始めたのが２時４５分でしたから

全部で２時間半かかりました。

Chi Chikko!

It was getting dark step by step.

少しずつ暗くなってきました。

We looked at the beautiful night view

while we were eating steamed bun

with sweet red bean paste.

私たちはお饅頭を食べながら

美しい夜景を見ました。

In Japan we have a custom of eating

"Flower viewing dumpling"

"Moon viewing dumpling".

日本には花見団子や月見団子を

食べる習慣があります。

It was the first time for me

to eat "The Million Dollar Night View

Steamed Bun"　in my life.

”百万ドルの夜景饅頭”を食べたのは

生まれて初めてでした。

I thought the Million Dollar Night View means

"the night view is worth ＄1000000" before.

私は今まで百万ドルの夜景とは

”百万ドルの価値がある夜景”

という意味だと思っていました。

But it was wrong.

でもそれは間違いでした。

The line was so long !

すごい行列でした！

They had to wait for 2 or 3 hours

to ride a Peak Tram.

ピークトラムに乗るためには

２～３時間待っていなければなりませんでした。

We didn't want to stand in long queues.

Tail Ping Shan Lion's pavillion is

free observation deck.

大平山獅子亭は無料の展望台です。

This lion looks like "Shisa"

lion statue in Okinawa.

このお獅子、沖縄のシーサーに似ていますね。

We didn't get on the Peak Tram,

but there was a Peak Tram for study.

私たちはピークトラムに乗りませんでしたが、

見学用のピークトラムがありました。

The most popular vehicle to Victoria Peak

is Peak Tram.

ビクトリアピークまでの乗り物の中で

一番人気なのはピークトラムです。

It was historical cable car ,

it was made in 1888

for British living in Peak.

１８８８年にピークに住むイギリス人の

ために作られた歴史の古いケーブルカーです。

標高差は３６３ｍ、乗車時間は約１０分、

If we get on the real Peak Tram,

we could not look at the beautiful bench.

We took a taxi from Victoria Peak to Central, had a dinner at Central,

and walked to Star Ferry Pier.

ビクトリアピークからタクシーに乗って、中環（セントラル）で降りた私たち３人は中環で夕食を食べた後、

スターフェリー乗り場まで歩きました。

We boarded a Star Ferry

to Tsim Sha Tsui at 8:00 p.m.

午後８時に尖沙咀（チムサアチョイ）行きの

スターフェリーに乗りました。

We made it for Symphony of Lights

from 8:00 to 8:10 p.m. by chance.

偶然ですが、午後８時～８時１０分の

シンフォニーオブライツに間に合いました。

It's a night event in memory of

"The return of Hong Kong to China"

we can see it every night.

香港が中国に返還されたことを

記念した夜のイベントで、

毎晩見ることができます。

英会話サークルで勉強したこと

●He is cheap.　　「彼はケチだ。」　＝　He is stingy.

　　　　「彼は安い」　　ではありませんので注意（笑）

●先生は public space 公共の場では、危険なのでスマホは使わないそうです。

　　　　確かに画面に集中すると、周りが見えなくなりますね。

●I saw beautiful sunset sky at the wheel(while driving/in the car).　

　　　　　私は運転中、きれいな夕焼け空を見ました。

●「保険に入る」　って英語でどう言ったらいいのでしょうか？　　buy insuranceです。

　　　　　私は英会話サークルでこの言い方がわかりませんでしたから、帰宅後調べました。

　　　　　保険に入るとか加入するとかいうと、文字通りenterかなと思ったら、

　　　　　buy を使うらしいです。保険を購入するということですね。

　　　　　　あなたのご主人は旅行保険に入っていたんでしょう？

　　　　　　　　　サークルで私はこう言いたかったんです。

●詐欺　を英語で表現すると？　　この言い方もわかりませんでしたから調べてみました。

●絵を描くの２通りの言い方　　　　この違いをこれまで知りませんでした。

●恥ずかしい　のいろいろ

　　　　①embarrassed　（エンベーラストゥ）　　恥ずかしいの意味で、一番多く使う表現

　　　　　　　　人に対して恥ずかしいという気持ち

　　　　　　　　Sssooooooooo emberrassed !　超はずかしいぃぃ～！

　　　　　　　　人前で恥ずかしい思いをした時の「恥ずかしい」

　　　　　　　　気持ちが恥ずかしい。

　　　　　　　　例えば、ステンと転んでしまったり、お酒を飲みすぎたり、失敗をしてしまった

　　　　　　　　　　時などに使う表現

　　　　②ashamed 　（アシェイムドゥ）　　　embarrassed　よりも重い「恥ずかしさ」

　　　　　　　　名誉やプライドが傷つくようなニュアンスの「恥ずかしい」

　　　　　　　　自分が故意にした悪いことに対して罪悪感がある時に使われる。

　　　　　　　　嘘をついたり、人をだましたりするなど罪悪感を伴う非道徳な恥に使う。

　　　　　　　　「恥ずかしい」というよりも、「恥じる」というニュアンスがある。

　　　　　　　　例えば、カンニングをしてしまった自分が恥ずかしいという場合にも使う

　　　　　　　　I'm ashamed of my ignorance.　私は自分の無知を恥じている。

　　　　　　　　I'm ashamed of my behavier.　私は自分の行いを恥じている。

　　　　③shy　（シャイ）　性格的な恥ずかしさ

　　　　　　　　日本でも最近は、内気な恥ずかしがり屋の人をシャイな人と言いますね。

　　　　　　　　Don't be shy.　　恥ずかしがらないで。

　　　　　　　　I'm not shy.　私は内気ではないです。

　　　　　　　　Generally, Japanese people are shy.

　　　　　　　　　　一般的に言って、日本人はシャイです。

　　　　　　　　　　多くの人の前で話すのは恥ずかしい。

●propaganda　（プロパギャンダ）

　　　　特定の考えを押し付けるための宣伝のこと。

　　　　プロバガンダを思想用語として使い、積極的に利用したソビエト連邦や

　　　　　　ナチスドイツで大規模なプロバガンダが行われた。

　　　　アパホテルの部屋に置いてある本は、プロバガンダであって、

　　　　　　単なるslander（スランダー）ではないと先生から教えてもらいました。

　　　　slander　は　AさんがBさんの悪口を言う　　というような時に使いますが

　　　　　　本の中で中国を悪く書いたりするのは　slander 　ではなく　propaganda　です。

●通訳　interpreter （インターペター）　と　　翻訳者　translator（トランスレイター）

　　　　前者は口頭で一つの言語を別の言語に訳す人の職業。

　　　　　　対面で、または会話を聞きながら行われる。

　　　　後者は文章を訳す人の職業。

●W　C　は何の略？

　　　　これまで考えもしませんでしたが、先生に教えてもらいました。

　　　　Water Closet　の頭文字をとったものです。

　　　　先生は「水の押し入れ」と言いました（笑）。面白い先生なんです。

　　　　実は現在、このWCはあまり使われていません。

●追いかける　chase（チェイス）と　追いつく　catch up with

　　　　The Japaneae runner caught up with American runner in the final lap.

　　　　日本人ランナーは最後の１周でアメリカ人ランナーに追いつきました。

　　　　警察はその車に追いつこうとしました。

●日本語の「キャンペーン」は和製英語で英語では　promotion　と言う

　　　　日本語のキャンペーン　campaign　の英語の意味は、選挙活動、政治活動のこと

　　　　リサイクルショップに行きたいとネイティブに言うと、缶や瓶を再生する

●リフォーム　reform 　の日本での使われ方について

　　　　改革する　の意味なので、家のリフォームなどには使わない。

●電車の中での疑問を先生にきいてみました。

　　　　　　（まもなく、金沢駅に到着します。）

　　　この文章はなぜ、We will soon arrive at Kanazawa Station.　未来形

　　　　　　ではないのかという点です。

　　　先生によると、未来進行形にした方が”ソフトで丁寧な言い方”になるそうです。

●今日のYさん（金石の人です）のトピックは昨日の朝の金石の火事についてでした。

●breath（ブレス）　と　breathe（ブリーズ）

●むずかしそう（人の話を聞いて）　　sounds difficult

●同じような発音で違うことば　　　pussy（プシー）　　と　　pushy（プシー）

　　　pussy 　　　幼児語で猫のこと。日本語のにゃんにゃんみたいなことば

　　　　　　　　　　男性が女々しい男性に対して使う侮辱的な言葉。弱虫（スタンドバイミーで）
