The name of the elephant was "Rani."
その象の名前は”ラーニ”くんでした。
It's a very common name in Sri Lanka.
スリランカでとてもよくある名前ですね。

Rani is Tamil name.
ラニーはタミル人の名前なんです。
The People take taking care of elephants, 　　most of them would be Tamil people, 　　so I guess they named elephants Rani.
象を世話するのはほとんどタミル人なので、 　　象にラニーという名前をつけるのだと私は思います。
Rani is a very common Tamil name.
ラニーはタミル人のよくある名前です。
I heard some words that 　　the elephant driver mahout ordered to the elephant.
●order　　命令する。注文する
象使いのマフィートが象に命令している言葉を聞きました。
"Daha" is proceed, "Mehe daha" is get back, 　　"O-" is stop, these words are Tamil?

「ダハッ」は「進め」、「メヘダハ」は「戻れ」、「オー」は「止まれ」、 　　これらの言葉はタミル語ですか？
No, I think they are just for elephants.
いいえ、それは象に対する言葉だと思います。
Because for example, "(Stop)O,o,o"…stopping action.
なぜなら、例えば、止まれはオ〜オ〜オ〜 …  　　というような瞬間静止をあらわすからです。
Mehe is Sinhalese. Mehe means here. Daha is not Sinhalese.
メヘはシンハラ語ですね。 メヘは”ここ”という意味です。 ダハはシンハラ語ではありません。
I couldn't take photos of riding the elephant by myself, 　　so I had photos with my camera taken by an assistant 　　I had photos taken with my camera by an assistant..
私が象に乗っている写真は自分では撮れないので、 　　アシスタントの人に私のカメラで写真を撮ってもらいました。
But when I got off the elephant and checked it, 　　he took just 5 photos , so I was dissatisfied.
ところが、象から降りて確認したら、 　　たったの５枚しか撮ってくれなくて、私は不満でした。

When I got off the elephant, 　　the elephant mahout and the assistant asked for a tip, 　　then I tried to give 100 rupees each as a tip, 　　but they told me, ", No, no, no, It's too little."

After riding the elephant, I had an Ayurveda experience.
象に乗った後、私はアーユルヴェーダ体験をしました。
Actually I was not interested in Ayurveda at all 　　that was popular in Japan.
実は私は日本で人気のアーユルヴェーダには全く興味がありませんでした。
But I changed my mind, 　　because a young Japanese woman 　　sitting next to me in the plane from Japan to Sri Lanka, 　　told me , "I'll visit Sri Lanka just for Ayurveda."
ところが気が変わったんです。 　　というのは日本からスリランカまで飛行機で隣に座っていた 　　日本人の若い女性が、アーユルヴェーダだけのためにスリランカに行くと 　　私に言ったからです。
Wow !
へえ〜！
I was surprised to hear that, 　　I thought "What ? 　　She won't climb Sigiriya Rock, 　　she won't ride an elephant, 　　she won't see Esala Perahera, 　　just for Ayurveda ???" I thought, I'll am visiting Sri Lanka all the way 　　from Japan, so I'll try it.
●せっかく〜だから 　　　　Since I visited Tokyo all the way, I went up Tokyo Tower. 　　　　　　せっかく東京に来たんだから、東京タワーに上りました。
私はそれを聞いて、とても驚きました、 「え〜、シギリアロックにも登らず、象にも乗らず、ペラヘラ祭りも見ないで 　　　アーユルヴェーダだけのために？？？」 せっかくはるばる日本からスリランカに行くんだから、 　　私もやってみようと思いました。
According to my driver, the best Ayurveda place was 　　in Habarana, so I was taken there.
ドライバーによると、スリランカで一番のアーユルヴェーダ施設は 　　ハバラナにあるとのことで、私はそこに連れて行ってもらいました。
Ayurveda doctor measured my pulse, 　　did a doctor's consultation 　　and asked me, "Would you like general course 　　or sesame oil course ?"
アーユルヴェーダの医者は、私の脈を計り、問診をしてから、 　　普通のコースにするか、額にごま油を垂らすコースにするかを 　　たずねました。
I like eating sesame oil, 　　but I don't like it being greased it on my body, 　　so I chose the general course.
私はごま油を食べるのは大好きですが、体にごま油を塗られるのは 　　いやだったので、普通のコースにしました。
Do you use sesami oil for cooking in Sri Lanka ?
スリランカでは料理にごま油を使いますか？
Maybe no, I think so.
多分、使わないと思います。
Coconut oil, vegetable oil, recently olive oil, healthy
ココナッツオイルや野菜オイル、最近は健康的なオリーブ油。
There were some treatment huts in the large garden.
広いお庭の中にいくつかの施術する小屋がありました。
And a statue of Buddha was in the center of the garden, 　　it was a nice garden and it felt feeling like 　　Buddha's silence and peace.
そしてお庭の中心には仏像があって、仏陀の静寂と平安を 　　感じられるようなすてきなお庭でした。
But, but I think it's no way ! 　　Just visiting Sri Lanka just for Ayurveda.
でも、でもアーユルヴェーダだけのためにスリランカに行くなんて、 　　とんでもない！と私は思います。

We old people are not good at change. You'll see in 40 years.

I don't know why in Japan younger people 　　are not good at computer 　at using computers/with computers.

That day, I had terrible dizzy and feeling sick.
その日、私はひどいめまいと吐き気がしました。
I thought if I put up the dizzy for a while, 　　I will get well, 　　so I stayed in bed for 3 hours, 　　but it was gradually getting worse step by step.
●だんだん　　　gradually　（グラージュアリィ）
私はしばらくめまいを我慢すれば、だんだんよくなるかなと思い、 　　３時間くらい寝ていましたが、だんだんひどくなりました。
I had no choice, 　　I asked my husband, "Call an ambulance."
仕方がないので、私は夫に「救急車を呼んで」と頼みました。
It became clear that my dizzy was from my ears, 　　not from my brain by the MRI.
病院でMRIを受けた結果、私のめまいは脳から来るものではなく、 　　耳が原因のめまいであることがはっきりしました。
The name of the sickness was 　　Benign Paroxysnal Positional Vertigo.
その病気の名前は、良性発作性頭位めまい症でした。
Let me explain about BPPV.
良性発作性頭位めまい症について説明させて下さい。
Positional means that 　　when we turn our head to the one direction, 　　we are dizzy.
頭位というのは、ある方向に頭を向けるとめまいを起こすという意味です。
In my case, when I lied down to right side, 　　I felt like throwing up and feel felt dizzy.
私の場合、右を下にして寝ると、吐き気がしてめまいがおこりました。
What is the cause ?
その原因は何なんでしょうか？
Part of ear stone (calcium crystal like grains of sand) 　　of otolith (gravity sensing) in the inner ear peel off, 　　and put in the three semicircular canals 　　then they irritate the three semicircular 　　by moving stone in it, 　　as a result, we are dizzy.
内耳（耳の奥）にある耳石器（重力を感知する）の 　　耳石（小さな砂粒のようなカルシウム結晶）の一部が剥がれて、 　　三半規管に入り込み、その中で耳石が動くことによって 　　三半規管を刺激して、めまいが起きます。
Otolith ? I don't know this word. Otolith is medical word, maybe.
●otolith　（オトリス）　　耳石 　　　　oto 　（耳の）　＋　lith　（石）　の合成語で医学用語 　　　lithograph　　石板（画）　 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　昔は石に描いていたが今はアルミ板に描くことが多い
Three semicircular canals and otolish 　　play an important role in the sense of balance.
三半規管と耳石器は平衡感覚に重要な役割を果たしているのです。
About 60 % of dizzy patient are BPPV.
めまい患者のうち、約６０％は良性発作性頭位めまい症です。
My mom's sister recently got this, too.
私の母の姉は最近この病気にかかりました。

She went to Australia and recently she has this problem.
彼女はオーストラリアに行って、最近この問題をもっています。

I was on a drip in the hospital. If I turned my face right, 　　I was dizzy and felt like throwing up, 　　so I was on a drip on my left arm.
私は病院で点滴を受けました。 右を向くと、めまいがして吐き気がするので、左の腕に点滴を受けました。
I was in trouble during the drip. Guess what ?
私は点滴中、困ったことがありました。 何だと思いますか？

During it, I wanted to pee and I was thirsty.
点滴を受けている最中、おしっこがしたくなって、喉もかわいたんですよ。
But I couldn't go to the lavatory and sitting to drink tea .
でも私はトイレに行くことはできず、座ってお茶を飲めませんでした。
So, I asked my husband to buy a paper diaper, 　　bottled tea and feeding cup at the hospital shop.
そこで私は夫に、病院の売店で紙オムツと 　　お茶と吸い飲みを買ってきてほしいと頼みました。
Feeding cup means convenient container 　　that we can drink water while lying down. Do you know feeding cup ?
吸い飲みというのは、寝たままでも水が飲める便利な容器のことです。 吸い飲みを知っていますか？
I have never seen it.
見たことがありません。
I brought it today.
今日、吸い飲みを持ってきました。
It's interesting.
おもしろいですね。
Then, I asked a nurse, 　　"Could you put a paper diaper ?"
それから、私は看護師さんに頼みました、 　　「紙オムツをつけて頂けますか？」
And I had my husband put tea in the feeding cup, 　　I drank the tea while lying down.
それから、夫に吸い飲みにお茶を入れてもらい、横になりながらお茶を飲みました。
I got well 4 hours later, 　　I went home while wearing the diaper.
四時間後、私は元気になって、そのおむつをつけたまま家に帰りました。
Have you ever had a paper diaper before 　　except baby hood, sensei ?
先生は、赤ちゃんの時を除いて、これまでにオムツをしたことがありますか？
No.
いいえ、したことがありません。
Never.
一度もないんですね。

一度も。 幸いなことに１度もありません。
My father had a paper diaper in his later years.
私の父は、晩年、紙オムツをしていました。
At that time, I tried to pee in a paper diaper 　　for the first time in my life.
その時に、私は生まれて初めて紙オムツでおしっこをしてみました。
Do you think what the result was ?
その結果はどうだったと思いますか？
To my surprise, I was not uncomfortable at all 　　to pee in the diaper.
意外なことに、オムツでおしっこをしても全然気持ちが悪くなかったんです。
After 3 hours, I tried to pee once more 　　while wearing the same diaper.
３時間後、私はその同じオムツをつけたまま、もう１度おしっこをしてみました。
But in the second time, I was uncomfortable 　　and I wanted to take it off soon.
ところが２回目の時には、気持ち悪くてすぐに脱ぎたくなりました。
For the experience, 　　I had no hesitation in putting on the diaper.
オムツをした体験があったので、 　　オムツですることに抵抗がありませんでした。
If I hadn't put a diaper at that time, 　　I would wet my underpants.
もしあの時に、紙オムツをしていなかったら、粗相をしていたと思います。
Right.
そうですよね。
If I had lived alone, I couldn't call an ambulance .

Also if I had called an ambulance by myself, 　　I couldn't prepare a the health insurance card, money, 　　prescription record, paper diaper, tea, 　　feeding cup and so on by myself.
それに、もし自分で救急車を呼んだとしても、 　　保険証やお金、お薬手帳、紙オムツ、お茶、吸い飲みなどを 　　自分で用意することはできなかったでしょうね。
I realized that elderly people who live alone 　　enter nursing homes because of worry.
私は一人暮らしの老人が老人ホームに入るのは、 　　そういう不安があるからじゃないかなと実感しました。

According to the TV news, there are lots of blackouts 　　for more than 10 hours a day 　　because they can't buy oil 　　for luck lack of foreign money.
●luck　と　lack　　幸運　と　不足
外貨不足で石油が買えないので、１日に１０時間以上停電が起きていると 　　ニュースで見ました。
Luck and Lack. Pronunciation is different, not same.
ラックとラック。 発音が違います、同じではありません。
When I went to Sri Lanka in 2014 , 　　there were not blackouts.
２０１４年に私がスリランカに行った時には、停電はありませんでした。
My second daughter 　　and her husband lived in Hong Kong, 　　now they live in India, Mumbai.
私の次女と夫は香港に住んでいたんですが、 　　現在はインドのムンバイに住んでいます。
They came back to Japan temporarily for 2 weeks.
彼らは２週間、一時帰国しました。
I want to go to India, but I'm almost 70 years old, 　　so I think it will be impossible.
インドに行きたいですが、私はもうすぐ７０歳ですから、不可能だと思います。
