The renovating of our daughter's house was over, 　　so we helped the moving 　　and cleaning in at their house.
娘の家のリフォームが終わったので、 　　私たちは引っ越しと彼らの家の掃除を手伝いました。
We stayed at our daughter's house for 12 days.
私たちは１２日間、娘の家にいました。
After I got home, I was surprised.

I thought it was strange, so I weighed myself, 　　I lost 3 kilos.
変だなと思って体重を計ってみたら、３�s減っていました。
Why How did I lost lose 3 kilos for in 12 days ?

どうやって体重が１２日間で３�sも減ったんでしょうか？
I thought it has 3 causes.
それは３つの原因があると私は思います。
First because, 　　I worked hard with my body all day, 　　for example, shopping, cooking, cleaning, weeding, 　　taking care of the baby and so on.
一番目の理由は買い物・料理・掃除・草むしり・子守りなどをして 　　一日中、よく体を動かして働いたからです。
Second because, 　　their house is a huge old Japanese-style house, 　　so I had to walk everywhere inside the house.
●部屋が広いことを英語では　wide room　とは言わないので注意 　　　　wide　は幅が広いという意味なので、部屋が広いと言う時には使えない。 　　　　シンプルに　big　（大きい）や　huge　（とても大きい）を使うのが一般的。
二番目の理由はとても広い古民家なので、どこに行くのにも 　　よく歩かなければならなかったからです。
Third because, 　　there wasn't they didn't have my favorite "Kotatsu", 　　I coudn't take it easy in the Kotatsu after dinner.
三番目の理由は大好きなこたつがないので、 　　晩ごはんの後、こたつに入ってくつろげなかったからです。
The month before last, 　　you corrected the important grammer point 　　from "our daughter is 42 year widow" 　　to "our daughter is a 42 year old widow". Thank you for pointing out my mistakes.
先々月、先生は重要な文法を直してくれましたね、 　　「私の娘は４２歳の未亡人です。」 間違いを指摘して頂いて、ありがとうございました。

According to my driver, 　　the pagoda is repainted white with old method 　　not using machine in July once a year.

White is a special colour in Sri Lanka, 　　it shows eternal silence and peace of Buddha.

I always forget articles.

It's a symbol of Anuradhapura.

And Ruwanwelisaya Pagoda is one of 　　the 3 great brick buildings in the world 　　that was built in 200 B.C, more than 2000 years ago.
そしてルワンウェリサーヤ仏塔は紀元前２００年（２０００年以上前）に 　　建造された、世界の三大煉瓦建築の一つです。
Lots of elephants were carved 　　on the foundation of the building. Because when they built the pagoda in the past, 　　elephants smoothed flattened the ground.

その基礎部分には、たくさんの象が彫られました。 これは昔、この塔を建てた時に、象が地面を平らにしたからです。
Smooth …… Flatten is better……

Smooth……by sandpaper Flatten is better, I think, too.

By the way, I saw a monk 　　standing in a strange pose there.
ところで、そこで私は変なかっこうで立っているお坊さんを見ました。
There was a piece of paper in front of him 　　that said, "Please don't give me money. 　　I will never spend money in my life.
そのお坊さんの前には 　　「私にお金を与えないで下さい。私は一生、お金を使いませんから。」 　　と書いてある紙が置いてありました。
Now in Japan, 　　no one monk doesn't need money, probably, 　　　　there aren't any monks that will refuse money..
現代日本では、お金がいらないという お金を断るお坊さんは多分いません。
Monks of Sri Lanka don't have 　　familyies nor propertyies. Is it true ? Depends on the monk ?
スリランカのお坊さんは家族や財産を持つことはない。 これって本当ですか？ そのお坊さんによりますか？
Well, if you become a monk, 　　you should not have a family nor a property, 　　but ??? (I didn't hear) it has change a little. But it's true.

"I will never spend money in my life."…… 　　that means he will live 　　by just offerings (food,clothes and so on) 　　except money.
お金を一生使わないで生きる…… 　　ということはお金を除くお布施（食べ物や衣服など） 　　だけで生きるということを意味します。
In Japan, offering (Ohuse in Japanese) 　　is cash to give as a reward, 　　when we have a monk chant a sutra 　　in the funeral or buddhism buddhist event.
日本では、お布施（おふせ）とは、葬式や法事などで僧侶にお経を 　　読んでもらったりした時に謝礼として渡すお金（現金）のことです。
In Japan, Ohuse means almost money.
日本では、お布施（おふせ）とはほとんどの場合、お金を意味します。
But I looked up Dana (ohuse) online.
でも私はインターネットでダーナ（お布施）を調べたんです。
Dana means originally,"offering our important things" 　　not just money.
ダーナとは本来「自分の大切なものを提供する」という意味で、 　　お金だけのことではありません。
For example, communication to others with smile, 　　offering the seat in the train and so on are Dana.
たとえば、他の人に笑顔で接することや、 　　電車で席をゆずったりすることもダーナです。
According to the book about Sri Lanka, 　　Sri Lankan Buddhism is special 　　among Buddhism in the world, 　　it is highly praised as near as the age of Buddha.
スリランカについての本によると、 　　スリランカ仏教は世界の仏教界の中でも特別であり、 　　現存する仏教の中では釈迦の時代に最も近いものとして 　　高く評価されていると書いてありました。
The original word of offering is "Dana" in Sanskrit. How do you say it in Sinhalese ?
お布施の原語はサンスクリット語で「ダーナ」です。 シンハラ語では何といいますか？

According to the internet, 　　the word root of "donation" and "donor" are "Dana."
インターネット情報では、英語のDonation （寄付）や 　　Donor（寄付者、贈与者、提供者）もダナーが語源だそうです。
Ruwanwelisaya Pagoda was very popular 　　with many people, 　　but I prefer the quiet Miri Sawati Pagoda 　　to Ruwanwelisaya.
ルワンウェリサーヤ仏塔はとても人気があり、たくさんの人がいましたが、 　　静かなミリサワティー仏塔の方が私は好きでした。

I found the banana is cooking banana 　　called "Arquesel Alukesel" 　　after I went back to Japan.
日本に帰ってから、 　　そのバナナが「アル 　ケセル」と呼ばれている料理用のバナナだと知りました。
Ar Alu means cooking, quesel means banana in sinhalese ?
シンハラ語で、アルは料理、ケセルはバナナの意味ですか？
Ar Alu means ash colour.
●ash　は　灰の意味 　　　煙草の灰・火山灰・遺骨の遺灰も全部　ash

Alukesel curry is tasty ?
アルケセルカレーはおいしいんですか？
Ya, it's tasty.

You could, you could, but normally in Sri Lanka, 　　they don't mix different vegetables together.

Wow, I'm getting hungry. I like Sri Lankan food, of course. This looks very good.

Especially, Fried squid and aromatic vegetables 　　were very delicious. Actually I love squid.
特にイカと香味野菜の炒め物はスパイシーで最高に美味しかったです。 実は私はイカが大好きなんです。
And I like ladies fingers. I eat boiled ladies fingers with soy sauce on rice.
それに私はオクラが好きです。 ご飯に醤油をかけたゆでオクラをのせて食べます。
I was surprised that the food bill cost 550 rupees.
食事代が５５０ルピーだったのには驚きました。
It took one and a half hours from the city center 　　to the restaurant by car.
そのレストランはアヌラーダプラ中心部から車で１時間半くらいかかりました。

Thanks to my driver, 　　I was taken to the a good value restaurant.
●good value　 　　　　　商品の品質に対して、安いというお値打ち価格を意味する 　　　　　コストパフォーマンスがいいという意味合いでの安さを表現する
ドライバーのおかげで美味しくて安いレストランに連れて行ってもらえました。

I presented them some "Matsutakes" 　　in a black box on April 1st.

Actually, the black box had some Shitake-mushroom in it.

Shitake is much cheaper than Matsutake.

They gave me something in return for Matsutake 　　1 hour later.

I thought, "I wonder what it is ?"

There were 2 hairs 　　and a piece of paper with a message 　　inside the black box.

Kegani has 2 meanings in Japan.
日本では、”ケガニ”には２つの意味があります。
One is crab with coat and the other is 2 hairs.
一つは毛の生えたカニ、そしてもう一つは２本の髪の毛です。
KEGANI 　　KE means hair, GA means is, NI means 2 in Japanese.
日本語で”ケ”は”毛”、”ガ”は”〜です”、”二”は”２”を意味するのです。

I think in Japan, 　　it's difficult to understand jokes for foreigners 　　because culture is different, language is different.
日本では文化や言葉が違うので、外国人にとっては 　　ジョークを理解するのはむずかしいと私は思います。
But I think "Kegani-joke" is very simple, 　　it's easy to understand.
でも「けがにジョーク」はとても簡単で、理解しやすいです。
What about this year ?

No, this year, no one fooled, 　　because we don't get fooled easily in April fool.
いいえ、今年は誰もうそをつきませんでした、 　　エイプリルフールで私たちは簡単にはだまされないからです。
We are used to April fool.
