こんにちは、先生、毎日暑い日が続いていますが、お元気ですか？
It's been Okay, August is a busy month, 　　because kids are here from morning.
元気なんですが、子どもたちが朝からいますから、８月は忙しい月です。
Every year, August reminds me of 　　Perahera Festival in Sri Lanka.
毎年８月になると、スリランカのペラヘラ祭りを思い出します。
According to my sources, 　　this year's Perahera Festival is 　　from new moon August 21st to full moon 31st.
私が調べたことによると、今年のペラヘラ祭りは 　　８月２１日の新月から３１日の満月までです。

In Japan, when we buy something online, 　　we can get it soon, very convenient.
日本では、通販で何かを買うと、すぐに配送されるので、非常に便利です。
If we are away from home, 　　driver redelivers it.
もし、家を留守にしていても、再配達してくれます。
There are many families 　　who are away from home in during the daytime, 　　drivers have to redeliver them in nighttime, 　　so drivers work for a long time.
昼間、留守の家が多くて、トラックの運転手さんは 　　夜に再配達しなければならないので、長時間労働になります。
Delivery driver's salaries are low 　　in spite of working long hours, 　　so recently problems due to the lack of drivers 　　have become serious.
長時間労働の割に、給料は低いので、今、日本では 　　宅配ドライバー不足が深刻になっています。
Drivers actually do high quality service in Japan.
日本での非常に質の高いサービスを実際に行うのは、 　　ドライバーです。
Customer's satisfaction is high, 　　but employee's satisfaction is low in Japan.
日本では顧客満足度は高いのですが、従業員満足度は低いんですよね。
I always think that 　　all things have a good side and a bad side.
全ての物事にはいい面と悪い面があると私はいつも思います。
But for example, 　　it was delivered letters 　　they used to deliver letters 　　on Saturday and Sunday before, 　　but now it's not delivered.
しかし例えば、以前は手紙の配達は土曜日も日曜日も 　　されていましたが、今は配達されません。

My husband was asked by our daughter living in India 　　and sent to send a letter 　　to Kyoto town office on Friday, 　　but he heard that it arrived on Tuesday, 　　he told me, "It used to arrive on Sunday before." 　　He complained.
私の夫は先日、インド在住の娘から頼まれて、 　　京都の町役場に金曜日に手紙を出したんですが、 　　それが火曜日に届くと聞いて、 　　「前は日曜日に届いていたのに〜」と言いました。 　　夫は文句を言っていました。
I told him an opposite opinion against it, 　　"Postal workers want to take off 　　on Saturday and Sunday, 　　but customers say such a selfish things 　　that's why problems due to the lack of drivers 　　have become serious. 　　Customers should put up with such a thing".
私はそれに対して、意見しました。 　　「郵便局の配達員の人たちも土曜日や日曜日には休みたいだろうし、 　　客がそんなわがままを言うから、今、ドライバー不足の問題が 　　起こっているよ。客はがまんすべき。」
From now on, 　　for keep the sake of 　　the Japanese home delivery system, 　　I think customers need to change our thinking.

この先、日本の宅配システムを維持するためには、 　　顧客の意識の変革も必要になると思います。
I think everybody have to 　　stand be a little more patient anything little by little 　　in order to be happy.

Could you tell me about 　　Sri Lanka's transport system concretely?
スリランカの輸送システムについて具体的に教えて頂けますか？
Comparing Sri Lankan transport system 　　and Japanese transport system,it's very different.
スリランカと日本の輸送システムを比べると、とても違います。
Japan is a big country, 　　so transportation is very necessary, 　　but Sri Lanka is small country 　　the same size as Hokkaido, 　　it's smaller than Hokkaido 　　so we don't have a big transportation system.
日本は大きな国ですから、輸送は必要不可欠ですが、 　　スリランカは北海道くらいの大きさの小さな国ですから 　　大きな輸送システムがありません。
Sri Lanka is three fourths of Hokkaido.
●分数 　　　　四分の一　　　　　one fourth 　　　　四分の二　　　　　two fourths
スリランカは北海道の四分の三です。
For example, I hate time that, 　　we don't know what time what bus comes where.
例えば、私は時間が嫌いです、 　　何時にどのバスがどこに来るのかがわからないんですよ。
In Kanazawa, you can check it out.
金沢では、それを調べることができるでしょう。
Lots of Sri Lankan people use trains, 　　but Sri Lanka doesn't have enough money 　　 to have new trains, 　　they normally buy old trains from Japan or China.
多くのスリランカ人が列車を使いますが、スリランカは新しい列車を買う 　　だけの充分なお金がないので、通常は日本や中国から古い列車を 　　買っています。
During rush hour, it wastes lots of time, it's not quick, 　　so I wish Sri Lanka would change, 　　but it is difficult, it's not easy.
ラッシュアワーの間、時間の無駄が多いし、速くないので 　　私はスリランカが変わることを希望しますが、 　　それはむずかしくて、簡単ではありません。
Then, are there any transportation company 　　 like Kuroneko-yamato in Sri Lanka ?
じゃあ、スリランカにはクロネコヤマトのような運送会社がありますか？
No, it's pretty bad.

Not good.

It's late. In Japan, customer's satisfaction is high, 　　but in Sri Lanka it's low.
遅いです。 日本では顧客満足度は高いですが、スリランカでは低いです。
So if I send something from Japan to Sri Lanka, 　　if the parcel(package) has something very important, 　　I'm very nervous because I can't check it online.
だから、もし日本からスリランカへ何かを送ったら、 　　その荷物がとても大切なものなら、ネットで進捗状況を 　　確認できないので緊張するんですよ。
In Japan, you can check the progress online, 　　but no information in Sri Lanka.
日本では、ネットで進捗状況をチェックできますが、 　　スリランカでは情報がないんです。
I've never bought something online in Sri Lanka.
私はスリランカでネット通販で物を買ったことがありません。

Well, I'll continue to tell about the trip to Tokyo 　　from where I stopped last month.
それでは東京旅の先週やめたところから続けたいと思います。
On the third day, my husband had something to do 　　in the Waseda University.
３日目、夫は早稲田大学で用事がありました。
My husband's photos were displayed in the Weseda University.
私の夫の写真が早稲田大学に展示されたんです。

そんなような…昔。
So we got on and off the Toden Arakawa Line trains 　　from Sugamo to Waseda, 　　and took pictures of electric trams.
それで私たちは巣鴨から早稲田まで都電荒川線に乗ったり降りたりして 　　路面電車の写真を撮りました。

ここはその電車の駅ですか？
Yes, it is.
はい、そうです。
This is the Waseda University. We had lunch at the cafeteria.
これは早稲田大学です。 私たちはこの学食でお昼を食べました。

Many trams were running 　　around Tokyo in the Showa era. They were running in front of Shinjuku Station, 　　Nihonbashi and so on, 　　but they were abolished except the Arakawa Line 　　because number of cars had increased and 　　the tram tracks were blocked by cars.
昭和時代には、たくさんの路面電車が東京の街を走っていました。 新宿駅前にも日本橋にも路面電車が走っていたんですが、 　　自動車の数が多くなってきて、路面電車の線路が車に邪魔されたので 　　荒川線を除いて廃止されました。
Arakawa Line is the only tram left in Tokyo now.
荒川線は現在、東京都内に残っている唯一の路面電車です。
Well then, why weren't wasn't only 　　the Arakawa Line abolished?
ではなぜ荒川線だけが廃止されなかったのでしょうか？
Because most of Arakawa Line was a dedicated track, 　　it was not obstructed by cars.

By the way, in the past, there were trams in Kanazawa.
ところで金沢市内にも昔は路面電車が走っていたんですよ。

Yes, it is. For example, when I was an elementary school student, 　　I went to Katamachi from Kodatsuno by tram 　　where my parent's home was.

But when I was 11 years old, 1965, 　　there was an traffic accident on Shiitaizaka-slope 　　from Kodatsuno to Kenrokuensita 　　that the tram's brake didn't work, 　　then it ranaway and derailed, 　　a junior high school student died.
ところが１９６５年私が１１歳の時に 　　小立野から兼六園下に降りる尻垂坂（しりたれざかーしいたいざか）で 　　電車のブレーキが故障して、暴走し、脱線した事故があり、 　　中学生が１人死亡しました。
As a starting point, trams in Kanazawa was abolished 　　and changed to buses.
それをきっかけとして、金沢の路面電車は廃止され、バスに変わりました。
Let me get back to the topic. While my husband was having something to do, 　　I was free, 　　so I went to Sunshine aquarium in Ikebukuro 　　by tram on the Arakawa Line.
話を元に戻しますね。 夫が用事を済ませている間、私はひまだったので、 　　池袋のサンシャイン水族館に荒川線の路面電車で行きました。
Sunshine aquarium is on the roof of the Sunshine Building.
サンシャイン水族館はサンシャインビルの屋上にある水族館です。
The highlight of the aquarium is 　　"Penguins flying in the sky in Tokyo".
この水族館の目玉は、”東京の空を飛ぶペンギン”です。
To be precise, 　　"Penguins look like flying in the sky in Tokyo."
正確に言うと、”東京の空を飛んでいるように見えるペンギン”です。
It's very nice !
とてもいいですね！
I had a good time watching cute penguins, 　　fishes and jellyfishes.
かわいいペンギンや魚、クラゲなどを見て、とても楽しかったです。
Then, when we got up on the morning of 　　the fourth day (the last day), 　　my husband was under the weather.
そして４日目（最後の日）の朝起きたら、夫の体調が悪くなっていました。
We had a place where we wanted to go in the morning 　　but we changed the schedule.
午前中に行きたい場所がありましたが、予定を変更しました。
Then, my husband rested until check-out time, 　　we went to Tokyo Station and 　　he rested in the "Tourists First Aid Center" 　　inside the station.
それでホテルでチェックアウトの時間まで休んでから、 　　東京駅まで行って、医務室（旅行者援護センター）で休みました。
We wanted to come back to Kanazawa 　　as soon as possible, 　　I called the travel agency 　　where I bought our tickets them, 　　and I asked, 　　"Could you change our ticket to a 　　sinkansen leaving earlier?"
なるべく早く金沢に帰りたかったので、 　　私は新幹線のチケットを買った旅行社に電話をして、 　　「もっと早い時間に出発する新幹線に変更して 　　もらえませんか？」とききました。
But our tickets were early bird cheap tickets, 　　so it was impossible.
ところが、私たちのチケットは早割の安いチケットだったので、 　　不可能でした。
It can't couldn't be helped, 　　he rested on the bed in the center for 3 hours.
仕方がないので、夫はセンターのベッドで３時間休んでいました。
I sat in on the bedside, but I was bored, 　　so when I walked around the station, 　　I found a wonderful-looking cake shop.
私もベッドの横で座っていましたが、退屈になったので、 　　東京駅の中をウロウロしていたら、美味しそうなケーキ屋を見つけました。
Doesn't look real.
本物じゃないみたいに見えますね。
I couldn't decide 　　but bought one the cheapest 　　slice of cake(1200 yen each) 　　just like I dived off a cliff into water, 　　called "Kiyomizu no butai kara tobioriru tumoride" 　　in Japanese.
私は迷いましたが、「清水の舞台から飛び降りる」つもりで、 　　その中から一番安いスライスされたケーキ（１２００円）を買いました。
Expensive ! ! !
高いですね！！！
Ya ya ya !
はいはいはい！
Usually, cake shop's cakes are with fruits 　　just where we can see them from outside, 　　but the cake was full of various kinds of fruits 　　including where we can't see.
普通、ケーキ屋さんのケーキは、外から見えるところだけに果物が 　　入っていますが、そのケーキは見えない所まで、 　　いろいろな果物がぎっしり入っていました。
Oh, nice !
わあ、美味しそう！
It's full of fruits.

I thought it was worth paying lots of money.
私は高いお金を払っただけの価値があると思いました。

In addition, 　　it's a secret that I ate the expensive cake 　　while he was taking a rest in the Center (hahaha).
つけ加えると、夫が援護センターで休んでいる間に、 　　私がその高いケーキを食べたことは夫には内緒です（笑）。
After taking a rest, he was feeling better, 　　we came back to Kanazawa.
●体調が良くなってきた　　　　getting better　　　　feeling better 　　　　　あくまで、良くなってきている段階なので、完全に治っていない時に使う表現
夫はゆっくり休んだら元気になって、私たちは金沢へ帰りました。
When I came back to Kanazawa 　　after traveling to Tokyo, 　　I realized that Kanazawa is 　　a more relaxing city than Tokyo.
東京を旅行してきて、金沢に帰ってきたら、 　　金沢は東京よりものんびりしていると実感しました。
We said, "I don't want to live in Tokyo." to each other.
私たちはお互いに「東京には住みたくないね。」と言い合いました。
That's true. Tokyo is good for business, 　　but to live in, Tokyo is not good.
それは真実です。 東京はビジネスにはいいんですが、東京に住むのはよくないです。
