●no　と　not　の違いについて 　　　　no は形容詞なので、名詞を否定する 　　　　not　は副詞なので、名詞以外のものを否定する 　　　　　　　be動詞の否定にも通常は　not　が使われる 　　　　no　と　not では否定する気持ちの入り方が違う 　　　　　　no は否定を強調しており、「全然〜ない」というニュアンスがある 　　　　　　　　I have no idea.　　さっぱりわからない。意味不明。 　　　　　　not　は強調せず、ただ「〜ない」と否定している 　　　　　　　　　I don't have any idea.　　何もアイデアがありません。
まず私はくつろいでいる豚を見ました。 日本の動物園では、普通、豚や牛のような家畜はいません。 豚を日常的に見る機会がないので、それはいいことだと思いました。

It was typical Sri Lankan that 　　some elephants were drawn carved 　　on the buttom of the animal cage.

Sri Lankans had to pay 30 rupees for using the toilet, 　　but the dry toilet for foreigners was free. 2500 rupees was including toilet, right ?

The wonderful toilet was surrounded by greenery. I had never used such a nice toilet before.

Oh, wow ! You had a diffrent experience in Sri Lanka, 　　because when I go to Sri Lanka, 　　I'm always using public bathrooms, 　　I'm scared. Japanese toilet is very very clean.

Muslim women were wearing all black clothes 　　from top to toe, so they stood out.

I heard that the lion roared by my side 　　for the first time in my life. I thought to myself while hearing the roar, 　　"Lion is the king of beasts after all !."
●roar　　　ライオンなどの猛獣類の吠えるを意味する
私は生まれて初めて、そばでライオンが吠えたのを聞きました。 私はその唸り声を聞いて、 　　「ライオンはやっぱり百獣の王だ！」と思いました。
In Sri Lanka, normally we say 　　"Lion is the king of jungle."
スリランカでは、通常は「ライオンはジャングルの王様だ。」と言います。
Lion is "Sinhaya" in Sinhalese, 　　"Sinhala means "descendants of lion" 　　in Sinhalese, right ? I saw in front of the cage 　　whether Sri Lankan children called lion "Sinhaya," 　　then, it was true, they screamed "Sinhaya ! Sinhaya !"
●scream　　　うれしい時、興奮した時、怖い時に叫ぶ
「ライオン」はシンハラ語で「シンハヤ」で、 　　「ライオンの子孫」はシンハラ語で「シンハラ」ですよね？ 檻の前で、子どもたちが本当に「シンハヤ」と 　　言うのかどうかを観察していたら、 　　みんな「シンハヤ！　シンハヤ！」と叫んでいました。
Lion is most popular animal in Sri Lanka.
ライオンはスリランカでは一番人気のある動物ですからね。
This cute boy is "the descendant of lion" このかわいい男の子は”ライオンの子孫”です。 He looked hard (starred) at me. この子は私のことをじ〜っと見つめていました。
There was the place to do the elephant show 　　on Saturdays and Sundays.
土曜日と日曜日に象のショーが行われる場所がありました。
Elementary school students went on a school trip there. They were wearing matching pink polo shirt.
小学生が遠足に来ていました。 お揃いのピンクのポロシャツを着ていました。

Because in Sri Lanka, unlike Japan, no like Japan, 　　elementary kid's uniform is white shirt and pants, 　　and girls wear white dress.
なぜならば、スリランカでは、日本と違って、いいえ日本のように、 　　小学生の制服は白いシャツとズボンで、女の子は白いドレスを着ます。
Soft served ice cream were sold. They had 2 kinds of cream, 25 rupees and 45 rupees.

I bought the cheaper 25 rupee one by my habit (haha).

According to the guidebook of Sri Lanka, 　　you might have diarrhea to 　　after eating soft serve ice cream, 　　but I believed my resistance (immune system) 　　and eat ate it because it looked tasty.
スリランカのガイドブックによると、 　　ソフトクリームを食べると下痢するかもしれないということでしたが、 　　とても美味しそうだったので、自分の抵抗力を信じて食べました。
I took a photo of the price list, 　　I looked it up after returning to Japan .
ソフトクリームの値段表の写真を撮ってきて、 　　日本に帰ってから、調べてみました。
The 45 rupee one was written sterilized milk, 　　but I didn't know the meaning there. I looked it up online, it means sakkinsareta gyunyu, 　　so I ate the soft cream made of unsterilized milk.
４５ルピーのソフトクリームはsterilized milk と書いてありましたが、 　　私は動物園でその意味がわからなかったんです。 ネットで調べてみたら、 　　sterilized milk は「殺菌された牛乳」という意味でしたから、 　　私は「殺菌されていない牛乳」で作ったソフトクリームを 　　食べたということになります。
But I didn't have diarrhea, 　　it was more delicious because of unsterilized. Well,"Ignorance is bliss."
でもお腹も痛くならなかったし、多分殺菌されていないから、 　　なお美味しかったのかもしれません。 まあ、「知らぬが仏」ですね。
Some families ate lunch box. Large leaves were used instead of dishes, 　　it looked tasty, I wanted to eat it.
いくつかの家族がお弁当を食べていました。 大きな葉っぱがお皿の替わりに使われていて、とても美味しそうで、 　　食べてみたかったです。

There was a signboard in the playground, 　　but in Sinhalese.
子どもの遊び場に看板がかけてありましたが、シンハラ語で書かれていました。
Sensei, could you read it out in Sinhalese ? 先生、シンハラ語で読みあげて頂けますか？
「アウルドゥ　ドウラヘン　パハラミン　……　　　　　　　　」 アウルウドゥ means 12. パハラミン means under.
アウルドゥは１２という意味です。 パハラミンは以下という意味です。
There was a playground equipment 　　using a big beautiful tree. So I asked a middle school girl, 　　"Excuse me, what does that say ?" in English. Then, she answered me, 　　"It says that playing is prohibited 　　for over 12 years old." I thought it's a pitty ! 　　If I were under 12 years old, I could climb it.
大きな美しい樹を利用した遊具がありました。 それで中学生くらいの女の子に「あれは何て書いてありますか？」と英語で 　　聞いてみました。 すると、彼女は「”１２歳以上の人は遊べません”と書いてあります。」 　　と答えました。 私は残念！と思いました、私がもし１２歳以下だったら、登れたのに。
Over 50 years ago, 　　when I was a junior high school student, 　　if people from other countries asked me 　　the same question, 　　I must not wouldn't have been able to answer that. Sri Lankan students are wonderful.
５０年以上前、私が中学生の時に、外国人に英語で同じようにきかれたら、 　　答えられなかったでしょうね。 スリランカの中学生はすばらしいです。
When I travel abroad, I like going to the zoo. Because local people come there, 　　not foreign tourists.

There was a "Three wheeler stand" by the bus stop. Three wheeler is the another name 　　of for tuk tuk, right ?
バス停のそばに、スリーウィラースタンドがありました。 スリーウィラーというのはトゥクトゥクの別名ですよね？
In Sinhalese,Tamil and Englosh? シンハラ語とタミル語と英語ですか？
It's only Sinhalese and English.
シンハラ語と英語だけです。
English and Sinhalese are not same.
英語とシンハラ語は同じことを言っていません。
In Sinhalese says, 　　only 8 permission given tuktuks can park. 　　if you don't have permission from the zoo.
シンハラ語では、「もし動物園からの許可を得てなければ 　　トゥクトゥクを駐車することができません。」と書いてあります。
Tuktuk is called different names in different countries. It's called Rickshaw in India, Baby taxi in Bangladesh, 　　Denpu in Nepal, Bajai in Indonesia, 　　and Tuk tuk in Thailand and Laos like Sri Lanka.
トゥクトゥクは国によって、名前が変わります。 インドでは”リキシャ”、バングラディシュでは”ベイビータクシー”、 　　ネパールでは”デンプー”、インドネシアでは”バジャイ”、 　　そしてタイとラオスではスリランカのように”トゥクトゥク”と呼ばれています。
According to the tuk tuk driver who was a friend of my driver, 　　tuk tuk in Sri Lanka are made in India, 　　it costed 500000 rupees each.
ドライバーの友達のトゥクトゥクドライバーによると、 　　スリランカのトゥクトゥクはインド製で、１台５０万ルピーもするそうです。
I went to Dehiwala Junction from the zoo 　　by bus not taking tuk tuk. The bus fare was 10 rupees. Transportation was convenient, 　　so the bus came soon without waiting.
私はトゥクトゥクには乗らずに、 　　動物園からバスでデヒワラジャンクションに行きました。 バス賃は１０ルピーでした。 交通の便は非常によくて、ほとんど待たずにバスはすぐに来ました。

It was lively in the bus, 　　folk music "Sararagi" was playing loudly in the bus. 　　　"♪Hoi hoi hoi hoi ♪Hey hey hey hey♪” A man sitting next to me said, 　　"The song is the theme song of the movie."

Then, I transfered the bus for Fort Station 　　at Dehiwala Junction. The bus fare was 25 rupees.

There was a speaker on the hanging shelf of the bus, 　　and the ceiling was flashy.
バスの中の吊りだなには、スピーカーまであって、 　　天井も派手派手でした。
I got off the bus, then I took a walk in Pettah. Pettah is the largest downtown area in Sri Lanka 　　where 200000 people come and go every day.
バスから降りて、ペターを散歩しました。 ペターは一日に２０万人が行き交うスリランカ最大の繁華街です。
Shops are very cheap of course, 　　　but lots of counterfeit. Do you know counterfeit ?
もちろんとても安い店があるんですが、多くの偽造品が出回っています。 Counterfeit を知っていますか？

Counterfeit means not original, equal fake.
Counterfeit　というのはオリジナルじゃない、偽物という意味です。
So Pettah is very popular for its counterfeit items.
だからペタ―は偽造品でとても人気があるんですよ。
In Japan, it is very difficult to find counterfeit, 　　because government is very strict, 　　but in Sri Lanka, Pettah, 　　you can find Lous Vuitton bag 200 rupees.
日本は政府がとても厳しいので、偽造品を見つけるのは難しいですが 　　スリランカのペタ―では２００ルピーのルイヴィトンを 　　見つけることができます。
Pettah is No.1 spot for counterfeit item.
ペターは偽ブランドで１番のスポットなんです。
I didn't buy such things.

There was a lottery stand. They fastened some lotteries with clothespins. It cost 10 rupees each.

I did window shopping in a shoe store. There were price tags rarely on the shoes there. It was nice for me as Japanese.

I went to a big bookstore and bought a sutra book 　　written in Sinhalese with cute letters. It cost 50 rupees.
大きな本屋さんに行って、かわいい文字のシンハラ語で 　　書かれたお経の本を買いました。 ５０スリランカルピーでした。

I looked sinhala letter up online, 　　but I didn't know the meaning.
インターネットでシンハラ文字を検索したんですが、 　　その意味がわかりませんでした。
Sri Lankan letters are beautiful.
スリランカの文字は美しいです。
This is the book shop ?
ここは本屋ですか？
Ya.
はい、本屋です。

I thought it's small book shop, 　　when you told me last week.
先週あなたが私に言った時に、 　　私はそこは小さなお店だと思っていました。
Then I asked a bookstore clerk, 　　"Do you chant Buddhist sutra at home ?" 　　he answered, "Yes, I do it everyday."
その時に、本屋の店員さんに「お経を家で唱えますか？」ときいたら、 　　彼は「はい、毎日唱えます。」と答えました。
Then I asked him, 　　"I want to listen the sutra, 　　so could you chant it a little bit ?" 　　then he did it shyly.
それで私が「シンハラ語のお経はどんなのか聞いてみたいので 　　少しだけ唱えて頂けますか？」と頼むと、恥ずかしい顔をして 　　唱えてくれました。
And finally I found a "False tooth shop" ! ! !
そして私はついに”入れ歯屋”を発見しました〜！

When I looked inside the shop, 　　a shop clerk told me, 　　"Please come in, come in." 　　so I said, "I don't want false teeth." But he told me, 　　"Okay okay,don't worry about it. Come in come in." 　　so I tried to enter the shop nervously.
中を覗き込んでいたら、お店の人が出てきて、 　　「入って入って」と言うので、私は「私は入れ歯がほしいんじゃないんです。」 　　と言いました。 ところが彼は「オーケー、オーケー、いいから、いいから入って入って」 　　と言ったので、私はおそるおそる店の中に入ってみました。

I thought myself "Heart" 　　called "Shinzou."in Japanese. Shinzo means impudent in Kanazawa dialect.
私は自分のことを”しんぞう”だと思いました。 ”心臓しんぞう”とは金沢弁で「ずうずうしい、厚かましい」という意味です。
"Shinzou" ?

For example, "I'm Shinzou." "You are Shinzou."

By the way, we say "You have hair on your heart." 　　in standard Japanese.

I said, "I really want to see the false tooth shop 　　because there are some folse tooth shops 　　in Sri Lanka by the guidebook." Then, a kind Chinese female dentist explained me 　　inside the shop in detail.
私が「ガイドブックでスリランカには入れ歯屋さんがあるということを読んで、 　　どうしても見たかったんです。」と言いました。 すると中国人のやさしい女の歯医者さんが 　　店の中を細かく説明してくれました。

Doctor Cheng showed me to glue the teeth 　　to the plastic base one by one.
ピンクのプラスチックの土台に、歯を一つ一つくっつけるところを 　　チェン先生は見せてくれました。

そして名刺まで頂いてしまいました。 本当にありがとうございました、チェン先生とその息子さん。
This is a dental chair. これは診察台です。
Since I came all the way to Sri Lanka, 　　I thought I wanted to buy just one false tooth.
私はせっかくスリランカに来たんだから、 　　入れ歯を１個だけ買いたいなと思いました。
I gave it a try and asked her, 　　"How much is this one ?" 　　she told me, "You can't buy it 　　if you don't need false tooth."
それでダメ元で「１本いくらですか？」とたずねると、 　　チェン先生は「これは本当に入れ歯を必要としている人じゃないと 　　買えません。」と言いました。
I've never been to false tooth shop. So I have no experience.
私は入れ歯屋に行ったことがありません。 だから私には経験がありません。
Never been but it's surprising 　　that Chinese mother and son were doing a business.

After taking a walk in Pettah, 　　I went back the hotel on foot.
