【Christmas Card from daughter 2016】

CARD -1

CARD-2

CARD-3

Last month we got a "Economical Christmas Card"

from our second daughter in the UK.

Let me tell you about it , today.

That card was written in Japanese, of course.

I translated it into English.

Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year!

I was looking for some lovely cards,

but they were very expensive even not good one.

One card costs more than 2 pounds 50 pense, that's about 500 yen.

 pense(ペンス) penny ペニーの複数形

I muttered against high prices in Britain,

"Why on earth is everything expensive ?"

 Why on earth〜

I was going to write 10 cards to my friends and family in Japan.

2 pounds 50 pense times 10 cards = 25 pounds = about 5000 yen

So I chose three kinds of cards, bought them,

and made 7 copies of 3 cards(card1/2/3)

on the same copy paper.

I was able to save the money .

By the way, people have a custom of eating "Christmas pudding"

at Christmas in the UK.

They burn it with brandy before they eat it.

It looks fun , but it looks too sweet and heavy,

that' why I hesitate to eat it.

I'd like to have it a little bit, though.

After we moved in Britain, we traveled Iceland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt,

France and Poland.

My favorite country is Poland of them.

Because I like polish people , polish food, sights of poland, and so on.

I think that Japanese people get along well with polish people.

Why do you think that we chose winter to visit Poland?

We'd like to have a feeling in the body about winter at Auschwitz.

In Poland, Nicholas(He is a kind of Santa Claus) rings a doorbell

and comes into a house during a Christmas dinner, not midnight.

Some fathers in the neighborhood visit their house each other.

If one father can't visit ,

he calls a Santa Company and asks them to send a Nicholas.

One of my repertoire of piano is "Brilliant Waltz"by Chopin.

Chopin, 20, he finally came to Vienna Austria(city of music) in 1830,

in spite of not leaving from his home Poland.

"Brilliant Waltz"was composed in 1831.

The song makes me excite imagination about Poland.

It is a sadness, introspective and lyrical waltz.

I love it.
